Redundant Warehouse Converted into Two Residential Units
Lovell Ozanne was asked by The Fuller Group to convert a redundant warehouse near Rocquaine into two residential units. This is a quirky site and makes up part of a residential hamlet, set against a backdrop of steep hillside land.
The building itself is nestled into a cliff face which adds to the setting but also gave us challenges to draw natural light into the building. There are also residential neighbours in close proximity and it was essential to maintain privacy between dwellings.
Working with the existing features and industrial character of the building we were able to adapt the roof to create recessed balcony ‘nooks’ and enhance the existing materials to develop a palette of granite, lime render and timber which helps the building to blend in with the surrounding buildings and take on a more residential identity.
The conversion scheme now utilises the existing building structure to its full potential and has created a mews-style development. The two homes created are compact, high-spec two-bedroom units in a sought after location; each with parking, external amenity spaces and rural and sea views.
